THE LEAF is a “micro-short, film experiment” I made exactly three years ago with a drama student I taught at J.L. Mann High School.
While shooting EINSTEIN’S DREAMS a few months before, I'd stumbled upon a still-image sequence (featuring Reid) that became my favorite moment in the film—not stop-motion animation...think LA JETEE...er, a slide show.
For THE LEAF, I shot the still images (also with the gracious Ms. Cox as my subject) with an old, Olympus 35mm camera I found in a camera bag in the basement.
The result is an interesting experiment in “found camera” filmmaking. And...another step into my full-time focus on film.
