Student and teacher.

My three and a half years as a public school teacher convinced me that the biggest problems with public education in my home state of South Carolina are as follows:

  1. Pedagogy valued over a teacher’s passion for his/her content.
  2. Ill-trained administrators' (nearly all of whom are former teachers seeking higher pay grades) poor leadership of classroom teachers; their approach based on classroom management principles meant for children.
  3. Educators are encouraged and even expected to worship the false god of technology.

These are ideological objections. Not one has anything to do with funding levels.
